THERAPEUTIC CHILDREN’S HOME

About our home

Boothroyd House is a home that meets the needs of boys between the ages of age 5-17, who have complex needs often associated with social, emotional and mental health challenges and/or specific learning difficulties and common diagnoses include ADHD, Autism, ODD, OCD and FASD etc.

We use our knowledge, experience, and expertise to help them become the best they can be.  In our approach to supporting children in our care, we embrace the fundamental principles of Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE) to create a nurturing and therapeutic environment.

Understanding our approach

We build warm, trusting relationships that promote self-worth, belonging, and resilience. This helps boys develop a realistic sense of self and better navigate life’s challenges and opportunities.

We support their development by:

  • Teaching self-management and emotional skills to manage impulses

  • Encouraging positive peer interactions and lasting friendships

  • Developing personal and social responsibility, respecting others’ needs

  • Modelling respect, tolerance, and a positive, “can-do” mindset

Our aim is for boys to become respectful individuals who form healthy relationships and contribute positively to society.

Our management team at Boothroyd House is committed to continuous development, ensuring staff are skilled, reflective, and trauma-informed practitioners who can support, guide, and educate every child.

THERAPEUTIC CHILDREN’S HOME

A safe place to grow, belong and move forward

We know choosing the right children’s home is a big decision. We want our children to feel happy, safe, and supported to grow. Over time, they build confidence, resilience, and independence—so when they move on, they feel ready for adulthood and proud of who they are.

  • Our staff bring warmth, curiosity, and a practical, can-do attitude. We’re always learning too—reflecting on what we do so we can keep improving the care and support we provide.

  • We focus on strong relationships, helping each child feel valued and understood. We encourage their interests, support their goals, and create opportunities for them to learn, grow, and enjoy positive experiences.

  • Above all, we aim to create a place where children feel they belong—where they are listened to, respected, and supported to build a positive future.
