Residential Care

Our Residential Care provision offers a warm, safe, and inclusive environment where children can thrive beyond the classroom. We are committed to supporting each child's unique needs and helping them reach their full potential in a supportive and home-like setting.

Guided by a skilled and caring team, our residential experience is designed to build trust, nurture positive relationships, and foster independence, preparing young people for successful transitions into adulthood. Through a holistic approach that combines personalised care, social learning, and practical life skills, we empower young people to gain confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self-worth.

Nurturing Education and Care

For young people with special educational needs, a residential placement provides the ideal mix of education, care, and stability, helping them progress academically and socially.

While attending as day students and benefiting from our specialised support, our residential care offers a welcoming, family-like environment that fosters positive relationships and personal growth.

At WHSS, the health and well-being of young people is central. We provide strong support systems, ensuring safety, care, and welfare, while offering multiple ways for young people to share achievements or concerns.

Personalised Support and Health Care

Each young person has a keyworker who provides personalised support, tracks progress, and acts as their advocate. Keyworkers collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure the benefits of multi-agency support are fully realised.

All young people are registered with a GP, dentist, and optician as needed, ensuring regular check-ups. When additional health services are required, the School Nurse coordinates care with carers and professionals to meet each young person’s needs.

Activities

Our young people can enjoy a wide range of stimulating, fun and energetic learning opportunities. They are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities, designed to encourage and develop a variety of social and life skills. They are also encouraged to take an active part in the local community, visiting and using local recreational facilities and becoming members of local groups, such as army cadets, scouts and judo club. They are supported to take up membership at clubs such as gyms and local football clubs.
